The voice was haunting, that of a child crying out to her, it drove her from the depth of dreams with an agonizing pain in her gut. A thorn driven through iridescent muscles and tissue, burrowing itself inside her abdomen. The plea made her search into the darkness of her room for another person... a child. But there was none, Amanita was alone in her room aside from the male slave chained at the foot of her couch and never had she a child to call her by that name. Mother.... but it felt so real. She continued to delve into the darkness expecting to see a young girl. Could it of been her own inner child crying out to be saved? As the sharpness was felt again in her stomach she knew it had been the one disposed from her womb, the daughter that never was, it was just a nightmare.

By morning the pain had not gone, she felt nausious, but she refused to let them call for a doctor. By night a fever had come over her body taking her mind with it. Shaking, her body covered in sweat... She accused those closest to her of using poison on her, she cursed them as they held her down trying to calm the mad woman. She screamed, swearing there was something growing inside her and was hallucinating by the time the physician reached the inn to examine her. Her appendix had burst, her body was poisoning itself and he had to opperatte at once.
When she opened her eyes three days later she was still searching for that child, instead she found the pupilless eyes of a man, her antidote. The first words to leave her lips were a command. "Take me home."
Schendi is where Amanita Vernia was born, where she lived for sixteen years with a father, mother, sister and brother in a house off the banks of the Cartius River. It was there she ripened on the vine, exploring the labyrinth of lush foliage and exotic cultures... it was there she learned of poison.
While most have heard of the deadly serpent known as the ost, it was a man that gave Amanita her first dose of venom with an act of betrayl... it was her father.
Vital Silenti, a man of medicine among other things, had companioned a rich merchant's daughter and used her family's finances to conduct experiments in a private laboratory in their home. Later in life she took to the caste of merchants against the more common practice to following in the footsteps of one's father, but prior to her pubescent years Amanita wanted nothing more than his approval. There were many practices, in fact, that the woman would commit against the grain of society's norm of acceptance in the years to come.
Locked away his a laboratory Vital taught his daughter many things. The autonomy of a human body, how the immune system protects against foreign substances, how frequent exposure can build a tolerance... how to go numb. Some things a father should never teach a daughter. She learned to lie, to hide her emotions in glass jars and place them on the shelf, how to adapt to her surroundings.
At sixteen when most swore to a Home Stone, Amanita was being sent from hers. After it was discovered she was having indiscretions with a man, perhaps many, she was being sent to Bazi to train as a merchant like her mother. Rosalyn Turac was a frail woman, often sick and too weak to leave her room, she was the woman that Amanita would vow to never become. She had once been a beautiful lady with many who inquired of her brides price, but it was Vital that captured her in the end after saving her father's life. Little did any know how he would poison them after gaining his trust.
It was her mother that made arrangements for her to leave, but it was plan devised by the daughter to get her out of arm's reach. Packing what few belongings she cared to take with her Amanita closed the lid on her family and swore to return and repay all the teachings her father had given her... an eye for an eye. She returned once to assure her promise was kept, that her father felt an excruciating death at the lips of his daughter's kiss.... and now, she returns again as news that her mother had finally passed.
News arrived before the trunks could be carried to the docks stating that Rosalyn Turac, mother of three, was dead. This was more than three hands past and might of even been the same night Amanita had been roused by the voice of a child. It gave the Charmer a chill down her back, but she didn't alter her plans to return home. Naga and Arculeius would come with her while Thaddaus headed to Ar with a letter for a woman, Corinna Paalaen. Later he would join them in Schendi after collecting a debt owed.
