Schendi had become a pestilent place to live, not because death lurked in the darker corners of the city or even the jungles, but that it came knocking at the door -- at least that was the case with the house Silenti. Not once, but twice, an assault had occurred within those venerable walls and bringing the death toll to four, three of the house and one attacker. The second intruder was captured alive by Arculeius, guardsman to the merchant who occupied the house, and was being kept alive until answers could be extracted.
This slew of attacks created a stir in the house, and as it leaked, to those in the city as well. Many might wonder what the merchant was hiding that was so valuable since the house itself had stood vacant for nearly a decade. With two guards killed during the second attack those in charge of he houses defenses were scouring the city for men unassociated with Krakatoa of the Ushindi, the man they believed to be involved in both attacks, which meant they were looking for travelers coming into the city.
